Taika Waititi is back! The Thor: Ragnarok director will return to helm Thor 4, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Waititi was going to make Akira his next project, but it’s been delayed.
The director has previously expressed interest in teaming up with Thor franchise star Chris Hemsworth for another installment, so this news is hardly unexpected, but very welcome.
Waititi is also writing this installment, which he did not do last time. Waititi would undoubtedly prefer to build the God of Thunder’s next adventure from the ground up.
We do not yet have a release date for Thor 4, but we may have one as soon as Saturday, when Marvel Studios puts on its Hall H presentation at Comic-Con.
Waititi has had multiple meetings with Marvel Studios about this project over the past year. It will be interesting to learn how far along it is (or isn’t) and when we might see it.
There are plenty of story questions as well, with Avengers: Endgame opening the door for the Guardians of the Galaxy to appear in future Thor adventures and vice versa.
