Avengers: Endgame has shattered not only records but previous assumptions about what was even possible at the box office. Everyone is impressed, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who sounds eager to join Marvel Studios’ winning team.
Johnson posted a video on his Instagram congratulating the entire Avengers: Endgame team, including Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. According to Johnson, he and Feige could be working together in the near future.
“I know our assistants have been trying to get us together for dinner for months now,” Johnson said. “We’re both super busy boys and I look forward to our schedules linking up.”
The prospect Johnson, one of the biggest movie stars in the world, joining the biggest movie franchise in the world is exciting. There are a number of characters Johnson could play, but my favorite is a character that may have been teased in Avengers: Endgame.
Johnson would be incredible as Namor in the MCU. Depending on the story, the character can switch back and forth from antagonist to hero, something Johnson has been great at since his pro wrestling days. No one was ever better at being a character the crowd hated yet could not help but love at the same time.
Imagine Johnson going to war with Chadwick Boseman (T’Challa) in Black Panther 2. Namor also has ties to Marvel Studios’ newly-inherited Fantastic Four franchise, which presents another casting possibility for Johnson. If he isn’t Namor, Johnson would be great as the ever-lovin’ blue-eyed thing, Ben Grimm.
