Marvel Studios can count on a massive opening weekend for Avengers: Endgame. Domestic box office tracking has the film earning $200M to $250M in its first three days. Of course, the film may very well exceed those lofty estimates.
If you are hoping for a record opening weekend, do not despair. Tracking for Avengers: Infinity War had that film opening anywhere from $175M to $225M. It went on to earn a record $257.6M in its first weekend in North America.
Avengers: Endgame may also outperform its tracking and break Infinity War‘s year-old mark. Considering that Endgame has already set first-day presales records for Fandango, Atom Tickets, and AMC Theatres, it appears very likely that Endgame will come out on top.
The reason tracking is not pointing to a record is that there simply aren’t enough models to gauge how high a film will open when it’s going to exceed $200M, let alone $240M. Only Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Infinity War fit that description.
On the worldwide front, Endgame is already guaranteed to eclipse Infinity War‘s record $640.5M opening from a year ago. Infinity War was missing China that weekend, but Endgame has a day and date released in the Middle Kingdom. Endgame‘s global opening should be well north of $800M.
