Interest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has never been higher. Marvel Studios earned a company best $4 billion in 2018 and next year could be just as big, according to Fandango users. They’ve named Avengers: Endgame and Captain Marvel the two most anticipated movies of 2019.
Endgame took the top spot, which comes as no surprise. It’s the direct follow-up to Avengers: Infinity War, the highest-grossing film in Marvel Studios history. The first trailer for Endgame shattered Infinity War‘s record for the most views in its first 24 hours with 289 million.
Captain Marvel was right behind Endgame. Clearly, audiences are hungry for the first Marvel Studios film to be led solely by a woman. They are digging what they’ve seen of Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) in the trailers thus far and can’t wait to see more of the most powerful hero in the MCU. Fandango also released a new image from the film (above).
Spider-Man: Far From Home also made the list in the fourth spot, behind Star Wars: Episode IX. In a year that also includes Jon Favreau’s The Lion King, Frozen 2, and Toy Story 4, Marvel Studios grabbing three of the top four spots is incredible.
Marvel Studios will continue its box office reign for at least another year.
