This is a difficult day for Marvel fans. We lost our legendary leader in Stan Lee, who passed away this morning at the age of 95. Knowing that this day would come does not make it any easier to endure, but we can ease the pain of our grief by celebrating a life well-lived and an immortal legacy left behind.
The stars and filmmakers of Marvel movies, both in and outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been paying tribute to Stan “The Man” today. “No one has had more of an impact on my career and everything we do at Marvel Studios than Stan Lee,” said Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. “Stan leaves an extraordinary legacy that will outlive us all. Our thoughts are with his daughter, his family, and his millions of fans.”
“I owe it all to you,” said Robert Downey, Jr. The truth is that many of us would not be here and you would not be reading this if it wasn’t for Stan Lee. He brought us together not just through his iconic co-creations, but by fostering a community across all of pop culture fandom. From Stan’s Soapbox to college lectures to cameos to conventions, Lee always made us feel like we were among friends.

Sad, sad day. Rest In Power Uncle Stan. You have made the world a better place through the power of modern mythology and your love of this messy business of being human… you let us be extra human… superhuman even. I am deeply honored to have been a small part in the Stan Lee constellation.
Thank you for filling our childhoods with such joy. You will be dearly, dearly missed… pic.twitter.com/Qt2sZqaNlc

I am saddened to learn about the passing of Stan Lee. From watching Marvel films with my friends in college to having the privilege to take on one of his characters in @BlackPanther, Stan’s creative genius sparked my imagination and left me in awe. His legacy will carry on in all of us who relish in the worlds he created. Worlds that renew our spirits and help us cope with our own. #StanLeeForever #ThankYouStan
Stan Lee created a universe where, if a character was beloved enough, they could never really die.
Now THAT’S thinking ahead.
Thanks for so much of my life. You’ll never not be in it.

Stan Lee was a brilliant, kind hearted gent whose stories thrilled me as a kid. I was utterly starstruck when I met him and I will never forget that though Phil Coulson was one of the few MCU characters who did not appear in the original comics, he always treated me like one of his own.

Stan Lee was a creative powerhouse and an enthusiastic ambassador for superheroes and the fans who loved them. We are here today because of him. We are sad that he is gone, but so much of our past, present, and future joy will be because he was here and will live on through the characters and stories he created.
