Stan Lee, the man behind the Marvel Age of Comics that eventually gave birth to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has died at the age of 95. Stan’s daughter confirmed the passing of the icon to TMZ.

As the co-creator of The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Black Panther, the X-Men and so many more, Stan Lee is responsible for more hours of joy and entertainment in my life than any other person.

I am heartbroken over this news. We may have known about Stan’s declining health for some time, but this is the kind of loss I just couldn’t prepare for.

As we grieve, we must do our best to celebrate a life unlike any other. Stan leaves behind a legacy that shall grant him the figurative immortality few will ever know. His creations and co-creations will continue to make us laugh, make us cry, amaze us, and inspire us for generations to come.

Thank you, Stan. Rest in power. Excelsior.
