The following article contains potential spoilers for Avengers 4.
Marvel Studios did a terrific job keeping a lid on Avengers: Infinity War. Its follow-up, however, has been a leaky ship for the past week. We already found out one dead MCU character will make an appearance in Avengers 4 and now there’s another.
Believe it or not, these beans were spilled by one of the film’s executive producers!
According to Super Bro Movies, executive producer Michael Grillo confirmed the return of the Ancient One during a panel discussion with screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely at the Austin Film Festival.
“When we got Tilda Swinton, she was just a 1-day availability” Grillo reportedly said while discussing the complications of scheduling production on Avengers 4. Swinton, of course, played the Ancient One, who died in 2016’s Doctor Strange.
This does not mean we should expect the Ancient One to come back to life, however, as rumors and reports of time travel and flashbacks have been connected to Avengers 4 for over a year. Actor Frank Grillo recently confirmed the return of his own deceased character, Crossbones, in a flashback.
If Swinton only filmed for one day, then her part in the film obviously isn’t big. At the most, she’ll have a glorified cameo as The Avengers travel back in time, or just down memory lane.
Directors Joe and Anthony Russo are going to have to find their own Avengers team to stop these spoilers from getting out. If nothing else, it might be time to send everyone a friendly reminder about their non-disclosure agreements.
