Marvel Studios will soon be expanding their production slate beyond the big screen. The studio will reportedly be providing limited series for the Disney streaming service. We have already heard about the Loki and Scarlet Witch shows, but now there’s a rumor Nick Fury will be getting his own series.

The rumor, and it is a rumor, comes from MCU Cosmic. I don’t always run rumors here, but to their credit, MCU Cosmic has done well with Marvel Studios scoops this year. They were the first to report The Eternals was in development at Marvel before studio boss Kevin Feige confirmed the news at the Avengers: Infinity War press junket in April and now Chloé Zhao has been hired to direct.

A limited series for Nick Fury starring Samuel L. Jackson makes a lot of sense. Fury could be making a comeback in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after being absent for most of Phase Three. Fury and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) appear to have sizable supporting roles in next year’s Spider-Man: Far From Home.

It looks like Fury and/or Hill will be resurrecting S.H.I.E.L.D. (in the movies, though the organization’s been alive on television this entire time) or leading some other government organization in Phase Four. That could easily set up a limited series for Fury, though the series could also reach into the past and shed light on what Fury’s been up to in Phase Three.

MCU Cosmic adds that there is one other limited series in development, though they do not know which character will be the focus of that one. I’d imagine there will be several of these projects in development going forward, most likely featuring characters that are popular, but unlikely to get their own movies.

A list of candidates for limited series may include Valkyrie, Drax (if Dave Bautista can get along with Disney), Gamora, Vision, Okoye (or the Dora Milaje). I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the adventures of Korg and Miek!
