Scarlett Johansson is set for a well-deserved payday on Black Widow. The star will earn $15 million for the film, equal to what Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth have made for playing Captain America and Thor, respectively, in the most recent Avengers films, as well as their last solo outings.
The news comes from The Hollywood Reporter, though Marvel disputes the accuracy of the numbers. As a matter of policy, Marvel Studios does not disclose actors’ salaries.
Regardless, Johansson is going to earn a sizable paycheck on Black Widow. $15 million is a lot more than actors usually get for their first solo film for Marvel, but we’re talking about a franchise debut that’s long overdue. Natasha Romanoff has been in several MCU films since we first met her in Iron Man 2 in 2010.
Fans have wanted Black Widow to have her own movie for years. It’s safe to say Marvel Studios can expect a big return on their investment in Johansson. She’s already paid big dividends for them for eight years.
