That’s a wrap, Cap. Chris Evans announced he has officially wrapped on Avengers 4, thus completing his Marvel Studios contract. While there’s always the chance he could sign up for more films, it appears Evans is hanging up the shield once and for all.
“It was an emotional day, to say the least,” Evans says. “Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.”
That definitely sounds like a fond farewell, though Evans will likely be around to promote the film next year. Evans has done an incredible job portraying Steve Rogers’ emotional journey from Captain America: The First Avenger all the way through Avengers: Infinity War and, since he’ll probably be just as great as he’s always been, Avengers 4.
A tweet such as this is sure to throw gas on the speculative fire as fans fear Cap may meet his end when Earth’s Mightiest Heroes go after Thanos. If this is indeed the last film in which we’ll see Evans as Steve Rogers, then, to borrow a line from Okoye, it will be the noblest ending in history.
