When last we saw Adrian Toomes (Michael Keaton), he was in prison and protecting the identity of Spider-Man. The stage was set for a return, but for all we knew, it could have been a couple films away. Now it appears that we will not be waiting that long to see Keaton back in the franchise, as he’s reportedly set to return for the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel.

In their report about Jake Gyllenhaal playing Mysterio in the film, Variety casually mentions Keaton will reprise his role as the Vulture. It’s not shocking since we already knew Toomes was still around, but it is newsworthy since we did not know we would see him again so soon.

If this is true, the questions about the Vulture shift to just how much we will see of him in the next film. Variety specifically mentioned the super-villain name Vulture, but perhaps Keaton will only appear as Toomes in prison where we can continue following his story for when he gets out.

Perhaps, though, Toomes will get out of prison and maybe even be busted out by Mysterio for some sort of team-up. Even if Marvel Studios doesn’t go that route, we could still see these two villains meet somehow.

If nothing else, Vulture and Mysterio could cross paths in prison (assuming Spider-Man ultimately catches Mysterio) where they can begin forming plans for the Sinister Six. Remember that the Scorpion, a.k.a. Mac Gargan (Michael Mando) is also there.
