Marvel Studios set a company best in 2017 with just under $2.6 billion in global box office revenue. It was the first year in which the studio had released three films. Marvel is releasing three films again this year, but has already broken last year’s record with just two.

Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War have earned a combined $2.78 billion at the worldwide box office. Black Panther, now available digitally, accounts for $1.34B of that total. Avengers: Infinity War currently stands at $1.44B (including $148M from its first two days in China).

Marvel Studios’ first two 2018 releases will eventually add up to over $3B. Black Panther is just about done at the box office, but Infinity War could add a few hundred million more to its total. When it’s all said and done, Black Panther and Infinity War could add up to anywhere from $3.1B to $3.3B (or more).

Then it will be up to Ant-Man and the Wasp to see just how high Marvel Studios can go in 2018. The worst case scenario is probably around $3.6B, which would be the result of $3.1B from Black Panther and Infinity War, along with Ant-Man and the Wasp only matching the total of Ant-Man ($519M).

More likely, Ant-Man the Wasp will push Marvel Studios over $3.8B, with $3.9B and even $4B well within range of reasonable estimates. The record for Marvel Studios’ best box office year is already in the bag, however, so whatever happens from here on out is just icing on the Infinity Gauntlet cake.
