Avengers: Infinity War has been collecting global box office records like Thanos grabs Infinity Stones. Records for the best worldwide opening and fastest to reach $1 billion all fell without the aid of the world’s second largest movie market. Infinity War has finally arrived in China and the Middle Kingdom was clearly ready for it.

Avengers: Infinity War hauled in an estimated (and impressive) $76M in its first day in China. Throughout the rest of the world, including North America, Infinity War has brought in $1.275B, so its debut in China will raise its total to over $1.35B.

That moves Avengers: Infinity War ahead of Black Panther ($1.34B) for third place in Marvel Studios (and superhero movie) history. Overall, Infinity War now ranks eighth all-time at the global box office.

The film will easily pass Avengers: Age of Ultron ($1.41B) this weekend. Depending on how the rest of the weekend unfolds in China, it could overtake Furious 7 ($1.516B) and The Avengers ($1.519B) as well. If not, Avengers: Infinity War will only have to wait until next week to move ahead of those two.
