Avengers: Infinity War will break another box office record today, or early tomorrow morning. The film heads into its second weekend with $905.1M in global receipts. The stage is set for Infinity War to cross the $1 billion milestone tonight or tomorrow morning, but either way, it will be a record.
Marvel Studios’ 19th feature film will reach $1B in its tenth or eleventh day of release. That will break the “fastest to $1B” record set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 12 days, back in 2015.
It should be noted that Avengers: Infinity War is doing all of this without having been released in China. While The Force Awakens was released in just about every territory, including China, on the same day, Infinity War does not open in the Middle Kingdom until next week.
Avengers: Infinity War is well on its way to becoming the highest-grossing superhero film of all time. The current record is $1.52B, set by The Avengers in 2012.
