Jessica Jones will return for a third season on Netflix. The streaming giant made the news official today, just a couple of months after the second season premiered. Jessica Jones joins Daredevil as the two Marvel-based Netflix series to receive this seasons so far.

Marvel Television plans to continue making new seasons of its current series for as long as Netflix wants them. Marvel is unlikely, however, to produce any brand new series for Netflix in the wake of the Disney-Fox deal. Once that deal is finalized, Marvel Television’s priorities are expected to be the Disney streaming service (launching late 2019) and possibly Hulu, of which Disney will own a majority share.

There is an end to the relationship between Marvel Television and Netflix in the foreseeable future. Netflix has been preparing for that eventuality by buying up superhero properties from Mark Millar and Rob Liefeld. Even so, the end is not imminent and it’s good to know we’ll have more Jessica Jones to enjoy in the meantime.
