Long live the King, indeed. Black Panther has accomplished another first for superhero movies. With $27M, the film topped the domestic box office for the fifth consecutive weekend, beating newcomer Tomb Raider. No other superhero film has led the domestic box office five times in a row.

Black Panther ($605M) has also crossed the $600M milestone in North America, which only The Avengers ($623.4M) has ever done. Black Panther will soon pass The Avengers to be the highest grossing superhero movie ever in North America.

The performance of Black Panther continues to amaze and audiences clearly can’t get enough of the film. Director Ryan Coogler and his cast, along with Marvel Studios, have made something genuinely special and moviegoers are treating the film as such.
