Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) will appear in Avengers 4 next year. The character is not slated to show up in Avengers: Infinity War next month, but directors The Russo Brothers told reporters on a set visit last year that Carol Danvers would be part of the fourth Avengers film.

It was Joe Russo who confirmed the news when he was asked which character had the coolest costume.

“Is it …? Where’s Pisani? I can’t remember if we – Captain Marvel on set, is that official? If it’s not, it’s official now. I think Captain Marvel had a great outfit.”

This is more confirmation of the obvious than anything else. Disney followed up to tell reporters that anything can change during production and that this is not a final confirmation, but we know better.

Of course Captain Marvel was always going to be in Avengers 4 even if she wasn’t in Infinity War. Kevin Feige has called her the most powerful hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy will need her help if they’re to stop Thanos once and for all.

Still, even though this is something we’ve all assumed would happen, having one of the directors call it “official” is still exciting!
