Black Panther is set for another round of box office milestones heading into its third weekend in North America. Today the Ryan Coogler-directed film will become the fourth consecutive Marvel Studios release to surpass $800M worldwide.

Marvel Studios earned over $800M worldwide with each of their three 2017 releases (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Thor: Ragnarok). Marvel has eclipsed the $800M mark in five of their last six films, dating back to Captain America: Civil War ($1.15B) in 2016.

The only film to fall below that mark was the still very successful Doctor Strange ($677.7M).

Black Panther headed into today with $780M globally, having just passed Guardians of the Galaxy ($773.3M) to become Marvel Studios’ best standalone franchise debut worldwide. It now sets its sights on Ragnarok ($853.7M), GotG Vol. 2 ($863.8M), and Homecoming ($880.2M) on Marvel’s global rankings.

The speed at which Black Panther is ascending Marvel Studios’ all-time box office rankings is even more impressive when you consider that the film hasn’t even debuted in China yet. That comes next week.
