Director Ryan Coogler found a way to get honor the title character’s comic book legacy by getting four different suits into Black Panther. T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) wore two suits, Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) had one, as did King T’Chaka (Atandwa Kani) in the film’s flashback sequences.
Marvel Studios Visual Development Supervisor Andy Park designed King T’Chaka’s Black Panther costume. He shared his approved concept design this morning while crediting artist Rodney Fuentebella for the top part of T’Chaka’s tunic.
The visual development team at Marvel Studios is such an integral part of the studio’s success. Their designs are remarkably close to what you see in the final film and T’Chaka’s costume looked fantastic on the big screen.
This is the approved concept design I did of the former Black Panther, T’Chaka! (T’Challa’s dad) @rodneyimages designed the top part of his tunic. Thx to @MeinerdingArt for allowing me to be a small part of this amazing film! #BlackPanther #WakandaForever #conceptart pic.twitter.com/KuUHqCyGnS

You can see plenty more of the brilliant concept art from the film in the Art of Black Panther book, which is now available.
