Black Panther just set another record. It had the best Tuesday in the history of Marvel Studios, bringing in another $21M yesterday. The previous Tuesday best for Marvel was The Avengers ($17.7M).
Black Panther has now amassed $263.2M in five days in North America. That’s better than the entire domestic box office runs of seven Marvel Studios films. It passed most of those over President’s Day weekend before eclipsing Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($259.8M) yesterday.
Marvel Studios’ 18th feature film shows no signs of slowing down. It is projected to earn $104M-$109M in its second weekend. That would make Black Panther just the fourth movie ever to post a second weekend at or above $100M.
Should those projections become reality, Black Panther will pass The Avengers ( $103.1M) for the best second weekend in Marvel Studios (and superhero movie) history. Black Panther could beat Jurassic World ($106.6M) to move into second place for any film in its second weekend.
