Black Panther does not hit theaters for nine more days, but it already has an impressive list of records. It sold more advanced tickets in its first day than any film in Marvel Studios history. Then it surpassed pre-sales for all superhero movies. The film could be setting another record very soon.
Black Panther is now ahead of the pre-sale pace for any first-quarter release in Fandango history. It is outpacing The Hunger Games and last year’s Beauty and the Beast at the same point in each film’s release cycle.
The most recent tracking has Black Panther earning up to $150 million over the 4-day Presidents Day weekend. It could even surpass the current record for that weekend, held by Deadpool ($152M).
The buzz for Black Panther is incredible, as the film currently sits at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes with 74 reviews counted. The average critic rating is a very impressive 8.5 out of 10. All of those critical raves could propel Black Panther to an even bigger opening than any tracking can predict.
Black Panther is in theaters February 16 and you can get your tickets here.
