Deadpool 2 will not have a TV spot during the Super Bowl. There had already been reports that Fox did not purchase an ad for this year’s game, but fan speculation being what it is, some thought it was all part of a big surprise. No one is trying to set you up for any kind of shock. Deadpool 2 really is sitting out the game.

The disappointing news was confirmed by co-writer Rhett Reese, who at least offered some hope for the near future.

Rheese’s “Don’t worry” is undoubtedly a reference to the next Deadpool 2 trailer, which is expected to be released in time to accompany screenings of Black Panther, which opens on February 16. With Disney dropping a trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story on Monday, we can expect the Deadpool 2 trailer online anywhere between Tuesday, February 6, and Thursday, February 15.

Deadpool 2 is in theaters May 18.
