This year will mark the tenth anniversary of the movie that started it all. Iron Man was released on May 2, 2008 and now the first director in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Jon Favreau, is receiving a tremendous honor. Favreau will receive the Visual Effects Society Lifetime Achievement Award at the VES Awards ceremony to be held next month.

Favreau has been a leader in the advancement of visual effects, using his films to push the boundaries of what is possible to put on the big screen. Both of his Iron Man films are great examples, as was The Jungle Book to an even greater extent. Favreau will dazzle us again with The Lion King next year.

Congratulations to Jon Favreau on this well-deserved honor!
