Hot off of a record-setting 2017, Marvel Studios is set for an even bigger 2018. The studio will again release three movies while celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fandango users are already feeling the excitement, voting Avengers: Infinity War as their most anticipated film in 2018, followed by Black Panther.
The results of Fandango’s poll come as no surprise given the overwhelmingly positive reactions to the trailers for each film. The Black Panther trailers have been met with some of the highest praise of any superhero movie trailers in recent memory. The same goes for Avengers: Infinity War, which smashed the record for the most online views within 24 hours of its debut.
Absent from the top 10 in Fandango’s poll, however, was Ant-Man and the Wasp. It’s hardly cause for alarm given that the movie has not yet had any widely released marketing materials, but Marvel Studios will want to get it out in front of people relatively soon. Expect the first teaser trailer to drop in the days or weeks ahead of Black Panther‘s theatrical release.
Evangeline Lilly was able to represent Ant-Man and the Wasp a little bit, coming in at #5 on the list for most anticipated comic book character in a standalone movie. Black Panther‘s Chadwick Boseman topped that list while Danai Gurira, who plays Okoye in the film, topped the list of rising female movie stars. Josh Brolin’s Thanos from Avengers: Infinity War is the year’s most anticipated villain.
Black Panther arrives in theaters February 16, 2018, followed by Avengers: Infinity War on May 4 and Ant-Man and the Wasp on July 6.
