In order to properly execute their vision, it is essential that a director commands the respect of their cast on a film. At least that’s how it works for most filmmakers, but in the case of Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi, all he needs is to not give a damn what his actors think.
Waititi’s unique but effective method of dealing with actors and stunt performers was captured perfectly in a photo shared by Bobby Holland Hanton on Instagram. Hanton doubles for Chris Hemsworth as Thor in the MCU. Both Thors appear in the photo along with Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie) and Zoë Bell, who doubled for Cate Blanchett’s Hela.
Waititi’s style may be unconventional, but it works. Thor: Ragnarok has been wildly successful with critics and at the box office, hauling in over $844.5 million worldwide thus far. It’s still in theaters if you want to join the cast in flipping the bird at the director (just aim it at Korg) one more time.
