Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Groot, Mantis (odds of dying: null)
Like Spider-Man, the Guardians of the Galaxy have also had a film announced for Phase 4. It’s hard to imagine writer/director James Gunn agreeing to make a third film, which he has, if his main characters were going to be dead and gone. Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and Gamora (Zoe Saldana) have an “unspoken thing” to explore, we’ve already seen a Groot (Vin Diesel) die, Mantis (Pom Klementieff) is only just getting started, and Rocket (Bradley Cooper) basically is James Gunn. The only member of the team who could conceivably die is Drax (Dave Bautista), but more on him later.
Captain Marvel (odds of dying: null)
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has described Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) as the most powerful hero in the MCU. She is not officially announced to appear in Avengers: Infinity War, but could cameo at the end or in a post-credits scene to hype her own movie for March 2019. Captain Marvel’s power level is probably what will help The Avengers turn the tide against Thanos, so her survival is guaranteed.
Black Panther (odds of dying: 1,000,000 to 1)
T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) probably isn’t going anywhere. He only just had his first solo movie a couple months before Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters and there will be so much left to explore in his own individual franchise. The only reason his survival is not a complete and total lock is the legacy factor. T’Challa’s sister, Shuri (Letitia Wright), eventually becomes Black Panther in the comics, so in theory, the franchise could live on with her even if her brother dies in the Avengers movies. It’s highly unlikely, but it is possible.
