Marvel’s Inhumans has found its king. Anson Mount will play Black Bolt in the upcoming series, which will premiere its first two episodes in IMAX theaters this September. Mount is best known for his work as Cullen Bohannon on AMC’s Hell on Wheels.

I have seen Mount on the show and he has the presence needed to pull off a role for which there will be minimal dialogue. Black Bolt doesn’t speak much because when he does, the power of his voice can level an entire city, even if it’s just a whisper. Black Bolt is the leader of the Inhuman royal family, and as such, an actor who could establish himself in silence was needed. Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb believes they have found that actor in Mount.

“Anson loves the challenge of playing a character who will only communicate silently. His enthusiasm mixed with his imposing almost regal persona made it easy to see why he is our Black Bolt.”

Mount joins the already cast Iwan Rheon, who will play Maximus, Black Bolt’s devious brother. The first two episodes of Inhumans will run exclusively in IMAX theaters for two weeks in September before the series begins its run on ABC.
