Bill Paxton, a bonafide movie icon, has passed away from complications due to surgery at age 61. Family, friends, and fans all mourn his loss. For film fanatics, Paxton will be remembered for several stellar performances in films like Aliens, Twister, Apollo 13, Frailty, Edge of Tomorrow, and many, many more. For fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Paxton will also be remembered as John Garrett.
Paxton played Agent John Garrett during the first season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. His run on the show lasted for six episodes beginning with the series’ fourteenth chapter, “T.A.H.I.T.I.” Paxton was already a legend before he ever stepped foot in the MCU and it was actually his presence on the show that gave the series a boost in credibility and quality during a rookie season that had its ups and downs.
Paxton was, just as he’d always been, a lightning rod. He brought his classic, twisted charisma to the part of John Garrett, an actual Hydra agent in S.H.I.E.L.D. clothing. He was a mentor to Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) and helped set up what is still the biggest twist in the show’s history.
Dalton and more members of the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and MCU family, along with the rest of Hollywood, are remembering Bill Paxton today.
I have no words. Bill Paxton didn't just play my mentor on the show, he became one in real life. The world is a sadder place without him pic.twitter.com/46e4hMj8nR
