Marvel Studios has released a new synopsis for Thor: Ragnarok, giving us an idea of where things stand for Thor (Chris Hemsworth) after leaving Earth in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Ragnarok—the end of all things—is coming, but The God of Thunder will have plenty to worry about before then. In confirmation that a piece of concept art shown at Comic-Con will indeed make it into the film, Marvel Studios has revealed that Thor will have to endure a rematch with the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo)!
In Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok,” Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk.
I was in Hall H at Comic-Con and the concept art for this confrontation looked epic. Much like the Loki (Tom Hiddleston) mind-manipulation that brought Thor and Hulk to blows in Marvel’s The Avengers, we can expect this next fight to also be forced upon our heroes by an external source. This time, the external tormentor is likely to be Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), an Elder of the Universe who loves games and has a bad gambling habit.
Thor: Ragnarok is in theaters November 3, 2017.
