It’s been speculated for a long time as to when the giant superhero epic Avengers: Infinity War will begin filming. Obviously it will be a mammoth of a production, as it will not only feature practically every cast member and character seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe up to that point (19 movies in May 2018), but it will also be filmed alongside its untitled Avengers follow up for May 2019. Despite a few teases and rumors suggesting a late 2016 start, Marvel Studios has maintained that production will begin in early 2017 and a new report suggests Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are indeed on track for a return to set next month.

According to My Entertainment World (via Omega Underground), the giant superhero epic is set to begin filming on January 23, 2017. Now, this isn’t meant to be treated as anything official or definitive as it is yet to be confirmed by anyone at Marvel Studios or Walt Disney Pictures. It is, however, in line with previous comments by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige who indicated a couple of months ago that Avengers: Infinity War and its follow-up would begin filming at the beginning of the year. Either way, I wouldn’t be surprised if following the Christmas holiday, we start to hear something more definitive from Marvel’s official channels regarding the beginning of production of these movies.

Avengers: Infinity War is scheduled to hit theaters on May 4, 2018, with its untitled follow-up arriving a year later on May 3, 2019.
