Marvel Television has announced five more cast members for its Netflix original series, The Punisher. The series, which will debut in 2017, is currently in production in New York, so the cast is filling up rather quickly. Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) is getting a lot of company.
Daniel Webber (11.22.63) will play Lewis Walcott, described as “a young veteran who has had a difficult time re-assimilating into civilian society.” As far as I can tell, this is an original character with no presence in the comics, unless they’ve changed the character’s name.
Jason R. Moore (A Lonely Place for Dying) is set to play Curtis Hoyle, listed as “a friend of Frank Castle’s and one of the few people who knows he is alive.” Hoyle actually does exist in the comics as a friend of Castle’s who ultimately betrays The Punisher, leading to a final confrontation between the two.
Paul Schulze (Nurse Jackie) will play Rawlins, described as “a high-ranking member of the CIA whose operations in Afghanistan intersect with Frank Castle.” That description is very much in line with William Rawlins from the comics, so expect him to cause a lot of trouble for Castle.
Jaime Ray Newman (Bates Motel) plays Sarah Lieberman. Lieberman is the wife of Micro (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), Castle’s friend and weapons supplier.
Michael Nathanson (The Knick) has been cast as Sam Stein, “a Homeland agent who is challenged by his partnership with Dinah (Amber Rose Revah).” This appears to be another original character for the series.
