Marvel Studios is releasing Captain America: Civil War on Digital HD this Friday, September 2. As the studio often does, Marvel is giving fans who take its most recent film home a preview of what’s coming next in theaters. Fans who purchase Captain America: Civil War on Digital HD or on Blu-ray (available September 13) will have their minds opened with a new look at Doctor Strange.
Marvel Studios has released a clip from its Doctor Strange special feature. There is not a lot of new footage, but we can see new concept art. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige also sheds some light on the villains of the film, Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen) on his fellow Zealots. Feige describes them as, “people who become seduced by what they find on the other side.”
Adds Mikkelsen, “Kaecilius is part of this temple. If the majority is looking for the truth here, he’s looking over there for the truth.”
Feige continues, “[Kaecilius] is interested in spilling the barriers between these dimensions.”
Words like “the other side” and “spilling the barriers” sound very appropriate for Doctor Strange. What is the other side and what truth have the Zealots found over there? Perhaps it is a truth passed to them by the Dark Dimension’s counterpart to The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) and Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) — the Dread Dormammu.
Dormammu is arguably the biggest baddie of all Doctor Strange lore. In the Marvel Universe, Dormammu is to magic and mystical villainy what Thanos is to cosmic villainy. His presence in the film has not been officially confirmed, but Dormammu is known to recruit disciples from Earth and imbue them with the power to do Dormammu’s dreaded bidding. If someone or something on the other side of our own dimension has seduced Kaecilius and the Zealots, Dormammu is a likely suspect.
Marvel’s Doctor Strange is in theaters November 4.
