A couple days ago, we learned that Marvel Studios has narrowed its list of potential Captain Marvel directors. Today, another name has been added to the mix with Mashable‘s Jeff Sneider reporting that Rebecca Thomas is also in contention.
Also, the mystery contender to direct CAPTAIN MARVEL is Rebecca Thomas, who I was hinting at months ago on the show. https://t.co/YDF2TMBkUm

Thomas has one feature-length directorial credit with 2012’s Electrick Children and is also attached to direct a live-action The Little Mermaid (not the one Disney is developing). Having only directed one feature won’t necessarily hurt Thomas’ chances of landing the job. Marvel Studios does not insist on experience so much as having the best ideas for a given project.
Thomas’ name is in the hat with Niki Caro (McFarland, USA), Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland) and Lorene Scafaria (Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, The Meddler). Marvel Studios is reportedly in the early rounds of the hiring process with these directors, so it could be a number of weeks or months before someone gets the job. In that time, it is also possible that other candidates will emerge.
