Robert Downey, Jr. did the honors of releasing the first character poster from Marvel’s AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. The new image stars, guess who? Tony Stark as Iron Man, sans helmet. Perhaps bigger than the poster, though, is a “big announcement” that Downey says is only eight days away.
So what should we be looking forward to next Thursday, March 5? The biggest announcement Marvel could make is the casting of Spider-Man for, we speculate, CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. Perhaps that’s too soon, but we don’t know when the casting search really started (it could have been before the deal with Sony was announced) and CIVIL WAR starts shooting in April, so a decision on Spidey is likely to come relatively soon.
Throwing back the biggest fish for now, there are other announcements more directly associated with the film currently being promoted, AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, worth considering. One obvious possibility is the announcement of when we’ll see the next (last?) trailer from the film. There’s also a chance we could see an announcement regarding tickets going on sale or, we greedily hope, advanced screenings.
