Not long after Sony started reshuffling its AMAZING SPIDER-MAN release dates, Marvel Studios pounced by booking an untitled film for May 4, 2018. Marvel already has films set for July 6 and November 2 in 2018, but this new addition puts the studio back on the lucrative first weekend in May that it favors. This also means Marvel will release three films in both 2017 and 2018, a notable increase over its usual two-per-year formula. Audiences haven’t shown any signs of Marvel fatigue as of yet, so increasing the studio’s output makes sense.

Marvel now has eight release dates with unannounced films, but at least some of those blanks are sure to be filled in during the studio’s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic Con in three days.
