For weeks, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been discussing the possibility of playing Quicksilver in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, but always maintained the deal was not yet done. It is now, according to Latino Review, as they report the ink is drying and Taylor-Johnson is set to join director Joss Whedon, fellow newcomer Elizabeth Olsen, and all the stars from the first film when the AVENGERS sequel begins shooting early next year. LR has been on a roll with Marvel casting news as of late, successfully scooping Bradley Cooper playing Rocket Raccoon in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, so an official press release is probably forthcoming.
Other than dropping their names, Whedon has not given many hints as to what he has planned for Scarlet Witch or Quicksilver. For legal reasons, we know they cannot be mutants or the offspring of Magneto, so a different (Inhuman?) origin story is expected for each. Regardless, Taylor-Johnson is a more than capable actor who should be able get along just fine with his charismatic future castmates. If all goes well with GODZILLA next year, Taylor-Johnson and Olsen could even be adding a little of their own star power into an already potent mix featuring the likes of Robert Downey, Jr. and Chris Hemsworth.
AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON will be in theaters on May 1, 2015.
