Put another “W” in the casting column for Marvel, as Deadline reports the studio has picked up Glenn Close to play a “major role” in next year’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Deadline has heard that Close will be playing the leader of the Nova Corps, the Marvel Universe’s intergalactic space patrol. They’re like Green Lanterns, but with golden helmets instead of emerald power rings, and no rainbow of other corps to fight.

The inclusion of the Nova Corps has not been confirmed at all by Marvel, but it has been reported in multiple rumors over the last couple weeks. If this is true, Guardians of the Galaxy could very well be the first film in a massive, cosmic subsection of the Marvel Cinematic Universe featuring multiple films from not only Guardians, but also a franchise headlined by the Nova Corps. Fans might be looking to the stars a lot more often in Phase Three.
